Founded in 2002, nottetempo is a proudly independent publishing house with around 250 titles in its catalogue. The editorial project combines high quality literary fiction with the pleasure of reading, good literature with the experience of intensity and lightness. Mostly focused on contemporary authors from Italy and from all over the world, nottetempo has emerged as one of Italy's most interesting independent publishing houses with a strong international list in both fiction and non-fiction.
Among our authors: Milena Agus, Philip Larkin, Iris Murdoch, Alberto Manguel, Jean-Philipe Toussaint, Naomi Alderman, Nicolas Fargues, Juan José Saer, Céline Curiol, Gianni Celati, Róbert Hász, Dubravka Ugresic, Yan Lianke, Květa Legátová, Ricardo Coler, Kim Thuy, Mariusz Szczygieł, Alice Walker, Mo Yan, Pavel Sanaev, Olga Tokarczuk, Judith Schalansky. We publish also some classics, Cechov, Stevenson, Dickens, Colette, Yourcenar to name a few.
We have several non-fiction series (reportages, philosophy, portraits and interviews) meant to propose a committed and pleasurable reading. We publish great thinkers such as Giorgio Agamben, Judith Butler, Byung-Chul Han, Jacques Derrida, Eyal Weizman, Jean-Luc Nancy, Edward Said and Slavoj Zizek.
From the very beginning our main focus has been the search for a constant dialogue with the international publishing scene both in discovering authors to be translated and in promoting our Italian authors in other countries. We do believe that one of the best guarantees for a good editorial choice is given by a close and attentive cultural exchange, which is the core and the aim of publishing.
